If you can afford it, buy an AEM. Nothing comes close.

i walked away from stock rom set ups ages ago before any realtime options were available.
my original intent was to use the haltech but used aems can be had for as little as 600 dollars on this forum because many people on here believe its too much for their set up. with that being said i do truely feel that haltech is superior to aem, but i must say that for the price of aem you cannot beat it with a stick. Once you understand how it works tuning is very simple. Its been a great tool for me because i always prefered to tune my car my self and its really made it easy. i actually want to switch to the mini one

Stock rom is nice for emissions reasons, but besides that it becomes hard to beat stand alone's these days.

Correction on why AEM's are $600 now days, when AEM released v2, v1's started selling for about $600 on ebay, but only the OBD1 one's. I bought one used for $600, but then sold it, got another one BRAND NEW from AEM ebay store for $600, sold it too because NismoTronic :-P.

Best tuning methods (affordable)
I"m currently using Nismotronic, the price is almost the same that ITC and SAFC together, but with a lot more.
My N/A setup requires hard tuning, the head job was insane and needed to control the timing fast. NEMU RT works like magic, i never tuned a car before and is great!!! Easy maps, very friendly interphase, and a lot of functions. Now I spect the SA version be even better.
Haltech is awesome also, but not too affordable as Nismotronic.

Greetings
