To read Calumsult data

1) Convert file from .lvm to .csv

2) Edit C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\Application Data\Virtual Dyno\columnnames.xml

Calumsult
Green
Black

TPS [%]

Tach [RPM]

3) Optional - To remove the AFR graph, edit C:\Documents and Settings\Chris\Application Data\Virtual Dyno\graphsettings.xml
and set to false

If you can export it to .csv, and as long as it has Time, RPM, TPS (Not a must but software ignores everything under 90% tps, if you don't have it just say 100% on all cells).

Now Brad can add support for your log if you provide an example .csv.

The way it works is, every 100 rpm it takes the time and RPM, then takes your gear ratio and car weight/CD/Frontal area, and calculates the whp. Basically it calculates how fast your climbing in RPM's. This is why down hill runs will be more powerful, and up hill will be weaker. Also wheel spin/hop really messes up the numbers (RPM's climb fast).

It seems to be very accurate, there were some people that did dyno and virtual dyno and it was within the error margin of the real dyno.

Well when i pick 3rd gear it says like 373WHP lol... so im guessing i really need to set in on 2nd gear.. but how??

I see some of you made your runs in 2nd gear runs and picked 3rd gear in virtual dyno..
what am i missing here?

BTW no a/f readings yet. I dont have it hooked up to nismotronic or tunerpro yet. I also took it to 8K, next time i will take it to 8.5K for comparo

I know the HP/TQ is way off but i am assuming where i make peak TQ and HP will stay the same. Peak HP is at 7,300RPM

Since 1.1.9 you can have custom profiles! Don't modify the stock profiles (they get replaced every time you update the software!).

I basically created a custom profile for my P11 and B15 (I had to for b15 because I have a P11 FG in it). Then I added gear ratios for all gears (my personal preference).

I only do 2nd gear runs, 3rd gear runs would be 90mph+, that's jail time in VA. I've done some side by side runs and 3rd gear is no more accurate then 2nd gear (gear ratios calculate that out!). The only reason I would do 3rd gear runs is because of no traction in 2nd gear, but P11 and B15 are fat enough to not wheel spin with 200 whp!

Just read a good article on the Virtual Dyno software and it seems to be pretty good. Im sure one of these days ill get a chance to tune a nismotronic and use the virtual dyno. They did a test on a 700whp evo and compared the virtual dyno results to an actual dynojet dyno and the results were nearly identical. Good stuff.

Just figured id throw this in here. Surprises me that other big companies such as aem and so on havent come up with any dyno type software using data pulled from a log during a pull.

Yeah i know about aems dyno thing but why do it that way when you can do it with software. Plus cant use that on fwd so who cares.

Anyone else want to post a virtual dyno? or send me there .csv file? I can overlay your run onto my run and do a comparo for shits and giggles
