Engine management (real time)
Just curious on what real time engine mangement everyone is using these days? What do you recommend for beginners? I already have a chipped ecu and getting a .bin for my setup has been a headache...tia.

Nismotronic seems to be the popular and most actively developed solution these days. As far as daughterboard solutions go.

We can set you up with the NismoTronic RT package, which includes the NEMU board and NismoTronic RT software. This package includes all of the features of the TunerCode ecu firmware, so you get some extra features like set launch (launch control), user outputs, ignition cut, and so on.

We also provide free installation into a customer supplied ECU and a free basetune for your setup which can be loaded onto the ECU before shipment back to you. The base tune is generally a good starting point for you to start tuning from and should at least get you going in the right direction!

There is also a tcd repository available in the software download section, which stores some of the common basetunes and makes them available for software users to download.

And another good place to check up on progress and to post any questions/help related topics is on the facebook group, which is here

NismoTronic Facbook Group

If you have any questions about this option feel free to shoot me a PM

I see that there's a battery on the NEMU board. What's that for? I know all batteries have a life span so when the battery goes does the car die or is it for like keeping date/time like a cpu?

The battery on the NEMU has a lifetime expectancy of around 10-11 years, plus Moates has a lifetime gurantee/warranty on their products so they will replace the battery if it ever were to give you any issues.

The NEMU does NOT run off the battery when the ignition is in the 'ON' position OR if you have it plugged into the laptop.

The battery is there for onboard storage backup and allows you to program the board without having it in a ECU and being powered by the vehicle.

The NEMU uses the same battery and basic board design as the DEMON, which I have been using from pretty much it's release date. I have had 0 issues with the battery on the DEMON and it has been in 4-500 cars in the past 5-6 years.. and it is still kicking to this day. I use it on literally a daily basis!
