Fine Tune Jwt Ecu
Just got a hold of a jwt ecu for my sr20de+t and i wanted to know should i fine tune the ecu with the safc i already have installed or should i just leave the ecu alone and sell the safc. I searched around and cant really fined a clear answer i've seen some ppl saying jwt doesn't play nice with the safc but then i heard ppl have seen some great results adjusting the fuel with it

if you know what you are actually doing use the safc if you dont leave it alone

As a first step, why not log your AFRs with the JWT to determine whether you need to fine tune it. If you are good at idle, steady cruising, and WOT, and there are no drivability issues, you won't need to mess with the SAFC.

I agree with sernewbie.. If you have a a/f gauge fine tune it as its well known JWT runs the ecu a lil on the rich side for safety. I have a safc2 and imma send my ecu to JWT today to get reflashed but as soon as I get it back I'll be doing some fine tuning for my personal preference. Like idle and cruise a/f ratios for better gas mileage.

i have a wideband in the car but honestly its probably more for looks then anything i dont really know anything about tuning i was going to take the car to the dyno and just have them figure out if its worth using my safc or not

Well,it all comes down to is preference and how serious you are about squeezing every ounce of power out of your car. You don't need to know a lot about tuning to get your car to run a lil better with some small adjustments on your Safc. Just do some research on air fuel ratios and how it affects drivability and power. Just remember too rich won't blow your motor but too lean will!! The higher the a/f number on your wide band(16.1,17.1) is the direction of getting too lean and lower the number is richer. Good luck man!!

thanks trust me i know all to well, blew my avenir motor in 1 week after it was installed because of it running lean. Thats why i was curious about fine tuning with the jwt if its a necessity. I'm putting a low port sr in the car this week and i already tapped the block to run my avenir kit. I also got the jwt ecu reflashed for the set up so i should be good this time. as far as squeezing all the power i can get out of it that would be great but i just need the car to be a reliable daily until i can get some money together to buy a beater then ill start truly building it

i had the same queston, im building a P11 RR de+t (w10) and have a safcII currently installed.
my issue is, theres nothing out there available plug n play for 32 bit ecu
so if step down harness and ECU to P10 or B14 or B13, may as well go calum RT or nistune board type 3/4?
i like the idea of easy JTW though.

I don't like using a SAFC for a few reasons, but if you keep it at a minimum adjustment you can get away with it.

You are directly scaling the maf voltage to trick the ECU into changing the look up values in the VQ table, which then directly affect your fuel/timing look up tables.

I guess the ONLY good thing is the way the SR20DE ecus handle the fuel table look up, which might make it OK for fueling adjustments.

But the same does NOT apply to the ignition timing look up.. small adjustments will definitely be just fine, just try not to go to crazy (especially negative values) at WOT.
