I've only read of a few people running modified SR20VET ECU's on some X-Trail forums. I didn't really get all of the details of what was exactly done and how intensive or not the programming was.

At the time, I was just looking to see where I can find a stock one. Haven't figured that out yet.

And if you use the 20V CAS, that means you're going to use COP, and that means the JWT tune you get needs to take that into account.

Great info! I might stick with the 20v CAS since they pop up here in the for sale section sometimes.

Worst case scenario, I think Greg sells them brand new for much cheaper than the Mazworx Hall sensor goes for.

Dan,

Your best bet is to use a JDM S13-S14 harness with matching ecu. The problem with using a fwd ecu is that they will not work on a coil on plug setup like the one you need to run on your S14. You can't fit a FWD distributor on the 20V because of firewall clearance issues. There are some guys that have made box a on the firewall just so they can fit a fwd distributor on a RWD VE setup, this would simplify alot of things for you but I'm not sure if this is an option you would consider.

I see. Thanks for the input Jose. That kind of ruins my plans to drive a legit OBDII street-monster. Nevertheless, I appreciate the feedback. It'll definitely save me some time when the time comes to tune.

If anyone else has an idea that will help me run an OBDII ECU (or anything that speaks OBDII protocols) in my RWD S14, let me know.

Otherwise this might just end up being a track-only build.

Thanks again guys.

The OBDII ecus with COP that would work (X-Trail, S15, 20V, later S14?) could be used, but the problem with them is that they are rare to find in any sort of re-flashable form. I think they are 32-bit, and much more complicated to deal with.
