The VE ECUs are uniquely complicated in their design and interface that's why there are less than a handful of companies or people that did/have/do make a board for them. The market is so small, that the devlopment tech time to make a board is really not worth it, which is why nistune don't already have a board for it. The board pictured above is, at the moment, the best & most cost effective board if you need to keep the existing hardware setup.

The N1 ECU plug is very similar to a regular B13 OBDI, but its slightly different so you can't just run a conversion harness, not to mention the wiring in the harness is totally different so a conversion plug (if you could find the right plug to go between) would be a *real* pain to do.

I was thinking it would not be anyway easy to run a conversion harness because of the vastly different wiring setup.

By the looks of it the only realistic options are to try sort the tuning of the existing boards or run a standalone such as the links ecu but the obviously is going to be very expensive.

The only thing i don't know (as i haven't done it) is the installation of the board normally requires a lot of resistors to be removed/changed/added in various locations on the board. I don't know if the N1 ECU is the same in that way too or not as i never pulled the ECU out of my N1 when i had it and those who have N1 modified ECUs don't seem to openly post that kind of information (for obvious reasons).

Yes there the same boards but installation is slightly different.

There is a few people tuning with these boards using different tuning software and i've tried to have mine tuned locally but always getting no where!

Can Nistune .bin files be encrypted so that they cant be altered?

You can protect a tune from modification, yes, as in, it can be altertered but the car will then be set to run in limp mode or something. My friend developed a way to do this a while back, but its not a common thing to be done and is quite complex. Bit of a pain really. I wouldn't imagine that is not related to the problem you're having though.

When you say you're getting no where is it that the changes have no effect or that the tuning doesn't result in an increased output from the car?

Its having limited affect!!
Somethings work some dont....

For example, no matter what changes made to timing maps nothing happens...!

Fuelling - using fuel maps, I can only alter high rpm after VVL to change afr.
To change lower rpm afr we had to change the k value for injectors!!

I have downloaded the original maps through consult from my own standard ecu so maybe I will have some luck with these....
