nissan datascan + calum ?
I have a calum basic. downloaded nissan datascan so i can use the timing function. but my cable is a rs 232 from out of my calum basic.
so i just bought this:

USB SERIAL RS232 DB9 CABLE VISTA PDA GPS VIEWSAT PANSAT - eBay (item 350237082307 end time Mar-29-11 20:58:02 PDT)

does anyone know if I'm good with this cable? everything looks right with it.
And secondly is there another consult program that's free to use that i can get into timing mode with that is better?

help me out please.

That cable will be fine with nissan datascan but not with Nistune.

I am unfamiliar with the calum basic. So it has a built in serial cable coming out of the ECU? if so, you should be fine to use datascan or any other consult program to view data or put it into timing mode. I'm not sure what other programs will do timing mode, but datascan is really great. You can even datalog and graph all of your sensors side by side, including a wideband o2 if you have one. It's worth the 50 bucks. You could try calumsult, conzult, ect.

cool, if you get a wideband, make sure it is one of the two types supported. I got my old LM-1 to work with it also, since they support innovate widebands. Here is a link:

Datascan gives you like 3 licenses to use it on a couple computers. If you run out for some reason, you could talk to them and maybe get an extra if you explain the circumstances. They just can't have everyone pirating the software.
