Replacing lambda with an LC-1
so i have an LC-1 im going to use its narrowband output for the ecu but i wonderd if leaving the heater wires for the old one disconnected will throw up the engine light as one goes to the ecu? or do i need to keep the old sensor connected and just danglingwith the signal wire connected to the LC-1?

Why not reuse the narrowband heater wires for the LC-1?

I don't know if the ECU will throw a code if you don't have anything connected. Sorry. =(

Yes it will throw a CEL for o2 sensor heater function failure.

the LC1 is a complete package that just neds a 12V supply it does all its own internal cheacks and heating ect.. then it throws out a wideband ignal a narrowband signal and can be attached via serial to a datalogger..

thanks cliff ill wire it up and leave it tidy at the back of the engine bay..

No point in doing this, unless your stock O2 is damaged. The LC-1 will do no better job than the stock sensor, if in fact it does it as good.

You will also have to check the ground offset and correct the curve for that difference so it gets "proper" readings. To do that program the advanced settings to send 1V when heating up the LC-1 (instead of high impedance), then check with consult, NDS, etc what voltage is the ECU reading for O2 when you just switch the key to ON, if for example it reads 1.04V instead of 1V then you need to change the curve min / max parameters so 14.7AFR is 0.46V instead of 0.5V

only reason im sapping it is i only have 1 fitting in the manifold for a sensor i dont have time to take the exhaust off again and get it to somewhere to have another fitting welded on..

im using the LC-1 in conjunction with a nistune.. if that makes any difference if i have to mess with the narrowband output then i will thanks for the figures

Can you disable CELs with Nistune?

this i havent quite figured out just yet.. if i get one i can get hold of matt at nistune to ask..

I´m pretty interested in this also, in fact i was about to post about this...

I bought a LC1 and i want to replace the stock o2, it´s old, and i want to be able to log correct AFR values on the datascan next to the other parameters, instead of having two cables to the laptop, and to open programs etc... the problem is to sort out the correct output for the ecu...

Also using the stock bung location would avoid some problems...
