Cam Gear Settings on SR20DE
hi guys,

I did a quick search but could only find discussion on cam gear settings on VE/VVL motors... but not specifically DE motors.

Long story short, got my motor rebuilt, went to get it tuned but everytime we changed the cam gear settings the power seem to have gotten lower.

What cam gear settings have people found work well on their SR20DE's?

Some background, car is a 1991 S13 SR20DE, made 96kw on my last run, from memory the cam gears were set to +7 in 0 ex

basic run down:
mods are on a nisstune ecu
head has been ported slightly
NISSAN SR20VE ceramic coated pistons 9.5:1 CR with valve relief (balanced & blue printed)
NISSAN SR20VE connecting rods (balanced & blueprinted)
NISSAN SR20VE 4 counterweight crankshaft (light weight and balanced)
NISSAN full gasket kit
NISSAN SR20VE ring set
NISSAN SR20 water pump
NISSAN head bolts
KING pro series bearing kit
BRIAN CROWER valve springs
BRIAN CROWER 264/264 11.8mm (step 2) camshafts
GKTECH rocker arm stoppers
VISION cam gears
EXEDY HD sprung clutch
Shortened Intake + RB20 AFM
NISMO engine mounts
JASMA 4-2-1 extractors with 2.5” exhaust (de-cat)
Supercat twin-tip muffler

also i might be upgrading to 272's to see how the results differ AND i'm pretty sure my mid muffler has collapsed so that might have brang the final power figure down...

cheers

What settings have you tried? Other than the one listed up above.

uhmmm i think we tried retarding the exhaust but that also decreased in peak power?
not sure on what others exactly..

I was just wondering on other people's experiences with DE motors

A friend is using +5/0 - P10 SR20DE (no o2) with S3 2.5" exhaust. In his oppinion car runs much better than before under 6500 rpm - a lot more torque. But after that the engine is like not doing anything but reving. No dyno charts.

I was about to post such thread a while ago as well - I am also interested especially after I run nistune ECU as well. So good luck!
