Put the disc in, changed the settings, and I get stat sync (which means the ECU can read the trigger properly and rpm readings should be good, and ignition will fire). The car just sat there cranking though, with the occasional pop out of the exhaust. I'm pretty sure the problem is in the timing compensation setting. After messing with it for a while the battery started to die (it's getting to the point where I need a new red top). I put in a setting that I thought might work and with the last juice the battery had it fired and almost ran.
I'm charging the battery now and expect results soon. Then I can time the engine again, and get back in business.
It would have helped to have the GF around to crank the car while I watch the timing light, but oh well.
