Sure will.

So you're going to COP? Is that the idea? I guess it doesn't really matter, but wouldn't you rather have the car tuned decently before you go messing with that stuff?
It is so simple though that I guess it doesn't matter.

Right now my car is working great, except it's getting what I believe is spark blow-out at about 5 psi. It breaks up on it's way to 5 psi and then it's like a brick wall. You might wait until I solve this problem before diving head first and replicating my installation.

I'm pretty sure the problem is my spark plug gap. Something tells me I put them in the car with 1.1mm of gap for some crazy reason. I'm going to check the gap ASAP and report back.

Edit: I ended up making a new thread for this problem. http://www.sr20-forum.com/tuning/25758-spark-blow-out-break-up-bucking-2-5k-4-5k-rpm-custom-aem-ems-install.html

Checked the spark plug gap tonight and it looked okay but all I have are wire gauges that go down to 0.040" at the smallest. WTF. Useless.
The gaps were all smaller than 0.040" and I made them a little bit smaller and went out for a ride. Same damn problem.
I'm going to try finding new, non-Bosch, non-copper plugs and see if they help any. Otherwise I'm kind of out of ideas for now. =(

I got an idea from the AEM forums for diagnosing the problem and that got me nowhere. But while I was out there I went to the cam/crank angle advanced settings and on a whim changed a few things to see if it would help. After changing the "Ign Range" setting from 3.00 teeth to 2.00 teeth the car stopped breaking up in boost and pulls to redline at WOT while making full boost without any major problems.

Hell yes!

Idle is a little rougher, and I only have a vague idea right now what the setting does. I'm going to look it up and see why it fixed my problem so I can sort through this mess.

Things are looking up. =D

I had the crank/cam settings from the B14 SE-R. Which I used because that's the distributor and CAS I have. But...
In those settings are also stuff for how many degrees of rotation the coil(s) can charge. So I fudged it by accident by changing one of those values (had little idea what I was doing) which coincidentally let the coils charge for more degrees of rotation and I got no breakup going into boost. But now idle is a little rough...

No biggy.

I read about the settings and I see what I need to do now. And then looked at the S13 settings (which has COP) and they confirmed my suspicion. So I should be good to go once I make another two changes.

No one will ever have to deal with the headaches I deal with. I do silly stuff that no one's done before on a regular basis it seems.
