Complete newb at tuning...
So I started reading this (It's a bit of a read with helpful links)

Tutorial to Nissan tuning

ECCS • View topic - A long tutorial for tuning nissan's ECUs

How to chip

ECCS • View topic - How-To: Chip Your ECU with Pictures (KA24E)

How applicable is this with our ecu's? I've seen that Calums daughterbords have two chips while the one in the link has one. I was thinking of buying the socket/chips/burner+tools to start chipping and burn my ecu's.

Question I have is will I be able to use the same socket and chip as shown in the link? Or will I have to purchase a different chip and socket, if so which one?

How many members here have gone through this (besides Calum of course)?

I really want to go beyond the S-AFC

Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I just read the first link. It has a lot of good info in it, but things have gotten a lot better now. I don't think you have to deal with hex anymore, and you don't have to know a lot of that other stuff because the logging techniques are much improved, and map traces make some of it easier too.

Never actually tuned a Nissan ECU though, so I'm not much help.

Concepts between that tuning and our tuning is very similar. We all live of the K value, VQ tables, Timing/Fuel maps.

Now did you have any specific questions that you would like for us to cover?

This is basically what I want to do:

Actually I want to install the socket and chip myself into my OBD1 ecu. (Which Chip and socket do I purchase for my ecu? Any Recommendations would help!)

Burn the program (with a burner duh) and tune the car with tunerproRT. (This I know how to do... somewhat)

I know I can buy ecu's already chipped but this is something I want to learn to do myself.

Thanks for th links, those are very helpful.

You need a B13 daughterboard, 2 options: Basic or RealTime

Ah that's awesome, if I had the time I probably would do the same.

Honestly, get the real time chip, it costs more but you wont look back. It's awesome tuning on the fly and making changes in seconds, without the cost of new chips.

Plus moats burner is like $100, so no need to use that.

One Q's he asked about the Calum ECU it has 2 chips how do i burn a chip for it?

Do i burn 2 chips with the same program?

Or do i split the tune in half and half on one section and the other in another chip lol............

Im sorry im having a Chip burn from a local shop but i saw i needed 2 chips and since honda only uses 1 how do i tell him to burn it.
