Oh I had my fair share of issues with that one too, Log manifold + 48* (VVL) of overlap = unhappy motor. Fix there is a good flowing manifold, but by that point I wanted to go simple, so swapped a roller rocker motor back in with under 10* of overlap, no more reversion and detonation.

@bhowle
The VEMS map I sent you wasn't the last one (which makes sense because the older one I sent you was insane). The one in this thread was the last one. There are also lots of maps in here for you to look at and get ideas from. Lots of very advanced idle sections just as you've gravitated toward, etc.

I'm not convinced most of these aren't freshman attempts but there are things to be learned in this thread.

megasquirt
Hey guys I am going to revive this thread if anyone can still give me some input. I just bought a megasquirt 2 for me se-r and I'm trying to figure out how to do the ignition mapping. My setup is a stock bottom end sr20de just rebuilt with new bearings, rings, arp headstuds etc.
I have a garret super 60 top mounted turbo with BC2 cams and msd 50lb injectors. Front mount intercooler and 3" open downpipe.
Which timing table do you think would be the best to start with as a base for my setup?

Post your MSQ ... I will set you up with something to start with.

Grr, need to add this to my TODO list.

@SneakyOwner when I get to a network that doesn't block images I will try to offer some advice. Generally speaking you will flow less air than most below ~3,500 RPM so you'll want to maintain typical settings or maybe raise the timing a little bit there. Then you will flow a good bit more than most above that RPM so you will want to back things off 15% or so above that. Assuming you start from an ignition map for something with stock cams and a smaller T2 turbo.

Question, and i hope this is an acceptable place to ask this.

What effect does the advance in the low load high rpm area, i see that it ranged from 34 to 42 depending on the map. Just curious in the difference?

Just efficiencies of combustion. Nothing you will notice. I run about 40deg down low above 3500rpm and up

Funny thing, sometimes running that much timing is to inefficiencies of combustion. On two different motors that I did airflow mods to (aka bigger turbo) I saw MPG increase only after reducing low end timing.
