to hook up wideband to aem ems or leave it stand alone?
i recently bought a plx wideband, and was wondering if there would be a difference in the way the car runs, if i leave the plx wideband as its own separate stand alone unit, or actually hook the plx wideband to the aem ems stand alone unit... is there a differnce? or is the aem ems just going to be taking the reads like the unit itsself does, or will the aem ems unit use the wideband and take the readings and compinsate for fuel or air and make on the fly adjustments?

any thoughts

I prefer to run AEM EMS with a wideband input. I wouldn't do it any other way.
With the info, it can make corrections to fuel on the fly where you say so.
That's the way I do it.

Then, of course, you can get the wideband data when you log with AEM.

i noticed that in my tune with the new wideband i am seeing a small lean spot in the fuel map. its right around 2k so nothing i see that being major, but i was wondering if you adjust the fuel in that particular area does the fuel map need to be rescaled?

GT2871rBLUBIRD, I was curious if you ended up hooking up your PLX wideband and if so how does it work with the AEM EMS. I have the exact same setup and haven't pieced it together yet. I would suspect it wouldn't be any diffent the the AEM unit, but just curious cause I wont get a chance to see or work on my car for a few months.

Thanks.

Hey Blubird do you have a problem with your AEM wideband and your AEM EMS software on your laptop reading different? I can't for the life of me figure out how to correct this even after using the fixes on the AEM forum. Let me know how that PLX works out for you.

there is a gain control in the software you will have to play with.

you might be getting electrical noise or sigals from other electronics, you can put a inline resistor on the line for the wideband to cut it down and that might help, but noises like other electronics cna cause weird readings.

but me personally, i didnt have any reading issues

go to your setup pull down find "sensors" then "Oxygen sensor" then to "oxygen sensor 1" (if thats what u have it hooked to) and go to the options and play with the gain number until you get the same numbers on both the guage and the aem. this will adjust for the fact that both systems have different grounds. if you read the quick notes in the O2 sensor wizard it will explain this. also the help function on the aempro does a good job on how to set this stuff up.

this is usually a problem only when using a aem wideband. you need to adjust the signal gain. I went with a lc-1 for my aem instead.
