Nissan DataScan ROM Dump
How exactly does everybody do this? I am having issues with it appearing to be stuck at certain addresses. I start at 8000 and go to FFFF. Now, either I don't have the patience to wait, or I am missing something.

I have tried with the car running/not running (key on engine off) as well. Key on engine off, seems to work better, but still gets "stuck". Also, this is a reprogrammed ECU by a company that has these letters in there name "T W J" Could that be an issue?

So, maybe someone can enlighten me with what works for them.

Thanks,
Doug

8000 to FFFF is what I use for a B13 ROM dump. It can be a little bit finicky. I had trouble with my LPT cable so I got a USB one and that seems to be a little more reliable. Do you have trouble with the data disply function freezing every once in a while?

I generally dump ROM with the engine idling, and I use the slower transfer option -- I don't remember the term, but one is faster and the other slower.

You sure that the company you're referring to isn't JWT -- Jim Wolf Technology? I have dumped JWT ROMs without any issues beyond the usual.

I hope that this is useful.

Thanks Bill. The freezing is exactly my problem. I am going to mess around with it.

And while I was trying to be discrete I am trying to dump a JWT ROM.

How long should it take?

Doug --

It should take something on the order of 15 minutes or so. If you know hex, you can monitor the progress as the addresses change.

Sorry -- I now understand what you were saying about your current ECU and where you got it.

Good luck!

Use the old version of CalumSult, its got a much better rom dump routine. It should be able to handle hangs in the dump, and if it doesn't you can just restart at the address it hangs at.

Download and install the full version, then just download the 08b exe and run that (its the old version).
