VVL Activation via TunerCode (Stock DE ECU)
This is something that many people have asked so I figured I would post this up and show you guys one of the great benefits of the TunerCode firmware.

TunerCode gives you access to control certain ECU outputs, these outputs will vary depending on what ECU you are using and can be used for anything from VVL activation to Nitrous, Meth injection, boost control, etc.

For this particular post I am going to show you how I hook them up when using a B13 ECU to control the VVL solenoids on a VE engine.

Here is a wiring diagram that I drew up real quick to show how things are being wired.

(**If you want to engage both cams at the same RPM point.. then you only need to use 1 relay and 1 output in the ECU... this will suffice just fine for most setups!**)

Here is how you set it up in NismoTronic to control the outputs.

In the output trigger table I select which Outputs I would like to use (EGR, A/C, AIV, O2 HTR), and then I select which trigger IDs I would like to use (RPM, CLT, Load, VSS, TPS).

Then in the tables below you enter the limit where you would like the output to turn 'ON' and the limits where you would like the outputs to turn 'OFF'.

ALL of the conditions MUST be met to turn the output on.. so in this example you can see that these conditions are (RPM > 4600, CLT > 150, TPS > 50, Load > 50) and VSS is not being used!

Here is a video of this in action.

PLEAE NOTE: If you would like to retain your A/C system control, please consider using the EGR/AIV outputs from the ECU for the VVL solenoid control. If you use the A/C output you WILL lose your A/C system functionality!

Nice, hopefully a bonus check rolls in soon, I am definitely looking forward to upgrading from my nistune board.

That's pretty cool! Now people can do this without having the RTv2 from CalumSult

Yep, it makes it nice since you can do it without using any of the outputs from the RT boards and instead control it right off an ECU output.

Cool, so VVL and NOS can be done as well now? I think that was another option you could do with the outputs, right? Not that I'm gonna do that, but other people might.

Nice. I got my NEMU on Saturday. I will be installing it some time this week.

NOS activation . I'm very tempted.

Boost Control
Controlling boost with tunercode, what capabilities would one have with the RT ecu?

What would the capabilities and features be, could boost be logged and if so how?

Yes, you can control NOS, Meth injection, or anything that needs a switched output to turn on.

The boost control I mentioned as an option is for something like a DUAL STAGE manual controller or something similar.. like the Turbo XS Dual Stage controller. This would be beneficial for people who want to run the HIGH boost stage in higher gears. It would allow them to setup the output to turn on the controller above a certain vehicle speed and engine RPM.

TunerCode WILL have direct PWM boost control in the future, but it is not released yet.

Boost can be logged with any 0-5 volt map sensor wired into one of the available ADC inputs on the NEMU board and can be displayed in the NismoTronic software!

That's awesome, I'm definitely going to try this!

Let me know if you try it out.

I will be testing at some point without the relays just to make sure everything is ok from the ECU standpoint with out them
