Thread: How to upgrade your B14 brakes by raiding the Nissan parts bins

Everyone says to upgrade to the altima MC but what year altima mc should we be using?
(I have a 96 SER)
Scouted out the parts yesterday, going back to pull them now. They have a second set if anyone is having trouble finding the calipers. (nx 2000 front calipers and maxima A32 rears) they also have 4 200sx se bodies in the yard if anyone needs anything let me know.

could you grab the center control surround if black? The one that goes around the ac controller and such. LMK Please.. I would appreciate it.

I am about to go from stock 200SX SE-R front brakes to NX2000 calipers, maybe Brembo blank rotors, and OEM Nissan pads.

This is for my daily driver so I figured I would keep it relatively cheap and tame. The rears are remaining stock 200SX SE-R rears.

$110 for the calipers, $37 a pop for the Brembo blank rotors, and new genuine Nissan OEM pads for $56.42.

I do not know whether or not to spend some more money and get PowerSlot slotted rotors and some more aggressive pads but I dunno, it is only an N/A car. Anyone wish to share some advice?

Keep the Brembo blanks and get some really good pads. I really like Carbotech Bobcats

Anyone on here sell them? I know someone who used to on here but cannot remember.

And, are they the dirty ones? Should I expect a lot of brake dust?

I remember this brand a bit more after doing some delving.

They are expensive little suckers so I assume they are worth it. I mean $56 for OEM pads (and I thought Nissan OEM pads were pretty decent) compared to ~$120. That is double the price, and I hope for triple the performance.

They have really expanded upon there pnoodleuct line last time I saw. They have many more racing applications, but the Bobcats tried and true street pad still lingers, awesome.

So be it, NX brakes, Carbotech Pads, and some Brembo blanks seem to be what I will chase after at first. Dunno about swapping the master cylinder, is it REALLY necessary when I keep the stock rears?

I think they have much less dust than the pads that came with my Wilwood setup (Hawks?), and have a really nice initial bite while still being fairly kind to rotors. You really do get what you pay for with these.

And fwiw, if you are only doing the fronts for now, I'm changing my mind on rotors. If you can afford it, definitely consider upgrading to PowerSlots. A little bling never hurt anyone



If you are going with the NX front brakes and stock b14 rears I think you'll be ok with your stock m/c. Try it for a few weeks and see if it is firm enough for you. If it's liveable to you than you can wait and add the Altima m/c when you upgrade your rears.

Does someone have a picture of the rear maxima calipers with the 12" rotors in a 200sx SER 15" Rims? I want to make that combo... but dont know if it would fit...

I don't think they'll fit. This pic is with A32 maxima calipers and rotors which are 11" (278mm). There's not a lot of clearance at all.
