I tried what u said for my passenger side mount, ended up cracking the passenger mount, my brother came in and welded it back real nice.

But the method that I described is the most painless so far. Your method stores alot of energy in there and when that energy releases, bad things will happen (such as mine)

Sawzall to cut through the old one, chisel it, air chisel it, done. Takes about 3 minutes when you get it down.

wow, I've never had that happen, and I've done like 4 of them. I'm going to try it again and shoot a video of it.

I did not get it to work using a bench vice. I used a mechanical hydraulic press, when I cranked it down once, loud pop, the mount came half way out but it cracked the mount. It was fine, my brother is a great welder, You can't even really tell anything was welded on it.

I could not get the vice to press hard enough to do anything.

I also shaved the sides of the inserts with a stone bench grinder to make the mount fit the car better. Again, kind of amateurish molding on Prothane's part...

You know I thought the same! I was getting to the point of grinding them down to fit better but I thought that it was made extra thick on purpose...

I think the purpose was just to piss off people when they are installing them! I used the same thing and grinded down one side to make the things fit easier. I got tired of fooling around with the damn things, this made it a lot easier to put them in.

Man thats a great business moto, lets piss people off! I said this plenty of times, and I will say it again, I would rather do 3 engine swaps then mess with mounts ever again.

I used a socket, it was very easy to do. Just force it over the bolt and it will work. No cutting needed at all. The mounts do give away when you press the socket over the bolt.
