thanks for the write up. My NX2000 came with some red prothane mounts in the trunk when i bought it and now i feel better about putting them in. is there a big difference between the reds and blacks? also do you know the torque specs on the engine mounts and the crossmember? im just worried about overtightening and breaking something or having it too loose and the engine vibrate loose. i have been looking in the PDF B13 service manuals and cant seem to find the right section. thanks

I dont think a torque spec matters for the x-member just throw some medium(blue) loc-tite on it and get em tight, they wont ever come loose unless you want them to!

There is no difference form the red prothanes and the black ones but the colors.

Color is just for cosmetic reasons

As for torque specs, get them as tight as you can. Loctite can help like novadose has suggested. I've heard of bolts getting loose with vibrations, so yeah you do want to make sure everything is nice and tight

^ Try having a buddy or someone torch it with some mapp gas.

Meanwhile you (wearing gloves) wail on a long nail or a medium-small size tip screw driver (To be able to get between the ring and the housing of the mouint)

Then get a bigger screw driver, bang it in, and press the ring into the center.

Or you could go with plan be; Use a dremel or a sawz-all of some sort and cut the ring into 4 easy to work with sections and bang them out that way.

Keep trying, you will get it sooner or later.

This is my dad's tried-and-true 10-minute method.



You need to make pieces (A) and (B) out of some kind of aluminum conduit at Home Depot. (A) needs to be the same diameter as the "meat" of the motor mount bracket (they are colored the same in the illustration, yellow)

(B) needs to be the same diameter of the metal of the of the inner part. (both in orange)

The length of (A) and (B) needs to be cut so that the whole assembly (A+B+motor mount) fits in your vise.

When you torque down the vice, (B) will press on the inner part, forcing it through the mount, and into (A).

I hope this makes it easy for someone to replicate, I'm nowhere near my dad's garage to make measurements and get pics.

If there's a demand, maybe I could "rent" these pieces out for the price of shipping.

If worst comes to worst with the mount breaking you can just buy a brand new one on ebay w/o anyhtign inside of it. They shouldn't be that much.

Just let the shop do they're best and see what happens. I mean it should be ok.
