Drag racing and road course are both crucial parts in my opinion. I am one of the ones that has no problem with the idea of paying for track days up front but I understand that some cannot. I DO think that collecting a small registration up front is a great idea. $20 a head to put towards setup fees etc should not dissuade anyone. There are a fair share of us that send donations but a small reg fee should definitely be standard.

@happynole no problem man and no need to apologize. I wish things had turned around and I was completely wrong. My intention of the post 2 years ago was to get people thinking about the community as a whole and how it was changing. Now, what that means for us and the forum and such I'm not sure. I don't think one person can answer that question for the entire group. I think the answer will materialize over time.

I hope everyone appreciates yours and other convention organizer's efforts over the years.

I'm thinking of parting out/selling my car and moving on to a different car/platform this year and if I do decide that, I know I'll still be involved in this forum and the community for years to come even though I may not own an SR.

i feel that if anybody wants to take away from the national convention by having regional conventions is just taking away from the community (minus the wcc guys) plain and simple if you are not pleased with the way its going this year then at the end of this convention when its time yo choose organizers and locations step up and everybody thats complaining do somthing about it .dont take away from an awesome thing that we have had going for years .hell look at how many years the conventions have been going for and there has only been 4 drag days and those people kept coming happily.

Hard for other folks to step up when the secret society stops them from attempting.

With each action there is a reaction.

1. large empty parking lot + orange cones = BAM! road course
2. can of spray paint + straight road = BAM! drag strip
3. profit?

Kyle,

Please enlighten me on this secret society aka "club" that you speak of? It has openly been asked for anyone to step up if they were interested in organizing a convention or "meet" as some call it.

When Lou and I wanted to organize our first "meet" we simply approached the previous organizers. No secret society was contacted. Same as 2013 and 2014 as well as 2015. Out of the hundred some add people only one person offered.

Anyways I am done with this as honestly I am very disappointed.

Olive branches are more useful at this point. While some folks see my comments as harmful, disrespectful, or just plain negative, that is a shame because there is none. While i have donated money since i have been traveling to these very fun " x x x x x x x" (whatever you want to call them)

I guess it has been lost in the emotionally charged rants and raves that I like doing this and have remained grateful to those who have provided such events. I have thanked those who have devoted efforts gratuitously and that is no mystery. So have many other folks that have been extremely grateful for this.

Trying to move forward has been my goal and I will still try to pursue it. If some folks have an idea and they present an idea to whomever is in charge, it would really be great if they could look at those options presented. That would be swell and hopefully help out at the same time and keep on providing the kick-ass experience of a Convention to the people.

P.S. I show up rain, shine, snow, sleet, no events, or a weekend full of events; Old Man and I are there.
