@ezcheese15, have you followed the progression of the Convention the last several years??

It is pretty clear, the only way to keep the convention alive is to have it in it's current format. The 1 a year thing was tried and failed on more than one occassions. Also, it is extremely difficult to grasp the logistics and planning which go into planning one of these (so much so that the planning for the following years' Convention began more than 1 year out!!!)

Also, the community is not like it was a decade ago. Alomst ALL the OGS have since moved on and although there are still some OGS left, the majority of the community members simply do not have the means to follow the Convention all over the country. That and in all honesty, the ones who are out there campaigning (met two guys last week at a NASA event at Summit who NEVER visit this site!) haven't a single clue of the convention

This issue crops up every year and it's the same answer: Go plan it yourself and make it happen.

Torry has been to a flipping shit ton of Conventions. He has a lot of them documented on the forum NICO Club - Nissan Forums | Infiniti Forums.

Two years ago, I would say "boo west coast, east coast only" for the simple fact that we saw no one show up at the last few National Conventions on that side of the country.

However, with Raul and his friends at the helm, I think the entire country could be at least investigated for the possibility of opening it back up to more venues. Although I have been snubbed at attempts before and been given lip service for my efforts, I only want the group of enthusiasts be able to get together at least once a year to celebrate out lovely shit boxes

I don't think Chicago and Omaha put together had the same turn out as the Texas convention.

I think Chicago turned out fairly well actually. It wasn't the biggest we've had, but definitely not the smallest.

The only reason Omaha was a bust was because of location. You can still have a national convention, just alternate coasts. Lesson learned = don't do it in the upper midwest. But with that being said, it wasn't any worse off than Las Vegas.

I haven't been to the WCC so I can't really compare, but Las Vegas was one of the smallest conventions to date. In contrast, the following year, in Savannah, was one of the largest. Both of those were when we still only had 1 convention. I think the lesson is, the further in-land, the smaller the convention will be, regardless of which side of the country it is on.

It's not quite the same as the days of Dallas and Phoenix, where you could have it anywhere and it would have a huge turnout.

Which sounds like the perfect reason to have a east and west coast convention, separately.

Um yeah...I can count on one hand the conventions I have *not* been too in the last 15 years. The only ones I've ever missed were the ones before 2000, when they were only in Socal, the '11 convention that was canceled then last minute thrown together in CT, and the 2 WCC's.

As far as planning one myself, I have, and I've helped in numerous conventions. I planned Omaha, and have helped in Austin, Savannah, and others. The once a year thing has never completely failed. We've had good and bad years, but there has been a national convention of some sort or another every year since '98. In fact, only 2 years have ever not had a track day ('11 and '14). And '14 was out of the planner's control, so I wouldn't even count that. I don't consider any of them a complete fail.

And going back to 1 a year is just my preference and opinion. But it doesn't change the fact I will still try to make it to every one possible. Only reason I missed '13 WCC is because I didn't even know about it until it was happening, and this year I couldn't because I was at SEMA for work. In '11 I was actually registered but asked for my money back when I thought it was canceled. By the time it was back on, I already had a plane ticket purchased for the Belgian GP the same weekend.

My point is = I know the conventions probably just as well if not better than nearly everyone.

My point is though, having 2 of them means most people will probably only go to one or the other. Having 1 a year, people will travel from all over the country to attend it because it's a once-a-year thing, so it's a bigger deal. It's more special.

Here's the link: Nissan National Convention

The history tab has the recap of all of them 98-09. That page was built for the '10 convention so I never updated after that. But it's a lot of good info that we may as well keep online.
