The biggest obstacle we have is the majority of people, that attend Conventions these days, are broke. Everything has to be done on the cheap, and more times than not, the organizer has to put his own skin in the game to make it happen. I can count on 1, maybe 2 hands the number of people in this community who would be willing/able to front thousands of dollars of there own money to secure a hotel/track/picnic grounds etc. etc., with the faith they'll break even by picnic day. Given all that, it severely limits the locations, due to where those organizers live. The main reason 2015 is in WV is because of it's locale to Ralph. While I'd love to be running at COTA for example, and enjoying Austin's night life, we just don't have a solid organizer down there...get it? Enough with the daydreaming....

I don't think anyone was complaining about venue or location, were they? I mean, other than us making note that conventions further in-land typically have a lower turnout.

It all boils down to money simple as that. The budget I feel puts a huge restriction on it all.

Hank it the nail on the head.

Also keep in mind there is only 1 National Convention. There is the West Coast Convention and the National Convention. Both good things that work for people. It gives people another opportunity to make one. I don't think either or hurt the other.

The way I see it is this...

The last 2 WCC's have been beyond awesome. They reminded me of what it was like back in the day. Without either of them, some of projects would have never been finished as I would not of had the motivation to get them done. Now I have not traveled to an ECC, but I feel confident they were just as good if not better (no offence WCCer's).

My thoughts are:

The West Coast has there convention every year at the same time, location, Etc...

The East Coast decides on a central location to have there convention at the same time, location, Etc...

And then we go back to having a TRUE National convention that floats all over the country. From Washington State to Florida.

Add it up Boys & Girls - I'm talking 3 Conventions a Year !!!

Yes I do realize what it takes to pull this off. The challenge becomes for many I live Los Andeles and the convention this year is in Florida. There is no way I can afford to go to Florida so I'm screwed. However is there is a central East & West Convention more people are able to attend, especially those that are more financially strapped for cash.

Just my 2 Pesos...

I want a gold-plated Ferrari, but I'm not willing to trade my 12-year-old Philippino sex slave for it.
