Spot on.

Also, BMW and Mitsubishi have been known to (although I have not heard of this happening recently) look through the events to see if they are recording times (as this would stipulate it is a timed/racing event), find out which cars were entered and who owned them and then turn around and drop them from BOTH warranty AND insurance.......It was bad for some time there a few years ago!

Being competitive in nature, without having something to push me along to do better (better lap times), I started getting sloppy and just relax driving. Granted this was because most of my laps were with no other car in sight, when I had another car in sight, I had something to keep up with or be ahead of thus it got interesting again.

Without knowing if you are improving, I see little education without some sort of tangible proof. Perhaps this is why I dislike HPDE that are ran around me locally, not to mention how boring a flat track is, I need elevations, off camber turns, something to spice up the drive and AMP certainly provided that! (Feelings are by definition, subjective.)

From the legal aspect, I can see the multiple issues Hanks touched on for the track but without having some sort of tangible proof, I dislike the idea of showing up, running around and hoping or feeling "I went faster or better". If the track gets hotter and your car gets hotter, your times get slower yet you can feel like you dropped the fastest lap of the day in those conditions.

Anyway, the stop watch cost $40 from Sports Authority, the clip board and pen were sourced at local stores.

And I shall repeat myself one more time, professionals did this for decades with races or practice sessions or anything involving a motorcar and a track and it worked just as well twenty, forty, sixty years ago as it does now.

I dunno what to say about how you feel @Vadim, I drove the shit out of my car in every corner and tried to use all four tires as much as they allowed me too. That was my goal, and dammit, I did achieve my goal. With or without people around me, I drove as hard as the little twenty-one year old car would allow me.

Kyle, not everybody has a cool DEEP Dad to time them from the stands...just saying.

I thought about using the stopwatch on my IPhone, as it has a "lap" feature. The problem was the track was so damn busy. I don't know about you, but I couldn't take the time to scratch my boys if they needed scratchin, let alone find the right button on my IPhone to hit.
