The Evo had no trouble out there.

The Miata had no trouble out there.
The Corvette had no trouble out there.
The Type-R Integra had no trouble out there.
The fuсking PT Cruiser had no trouble out there.
From the looks of it the S2000 survived with no real issues, just a scare.
The WRX STI had a minor problem that I don't have the details on. Sure wasn't rod knock.
Okay, there weren't 40 of each of them, but my bets would be if there were you wouldn't see 10% of them limping home.

But what if there were forty 10-15 year old Evo's out there? Many with motor swaps, and many making double the power levels they left the factory with?
Has there ever been an SER track day when cars haven't broken? I know in Chicago Happynole spun a bearing *pulling into the track* (broken sender adapter)! Lourok tossed a couple of rockers in his car (well somebody else was driving, but whatever) at the track, then spun a rod the next day at the dragstrip. Rick's (best B15) car did beautifully all day at the track then inexplicably went into limp mode 2 miles away. He didn't have a trailer that year, so he had to go home (Nashville) and drive all the way back with a trailer to get it.
The following year in Vegas, Mike Kojima grenaded the transmission in his dog car and several others had issues as well. There's no voodoo here. These are (mostly) modified cars and they're getting flogged on a racetrack. Sometimes they are going to break.
