Being that I currently work for hertz, but am quitting since they are in a downward spiral with today's economy, two weeks has been put in, maybe I'll get some cdp#'s that can save everyone some cash . I booked a rental for Wes for last years convention. Got him a decent price.

I believe Avis has 350zs. That's what I'd get. Do not tell them you are taking it on the track.

Read the fine print on the rental agreement. Specifically addresses that in the agreement...

Definitely do not tell them you are going to a track. If someone did that at our branch we would most likely refuse rental to them.

Will, for starters, use this PC# 126884, this will waive the underage fee, luckily it doesn't expire till march 31st. That will save you $27 per day, hertz' underage fee is a bit ridiculous, the code will not work on corvettes, shelby mustangs, or prestige vehicles. Wait to book the reservation though, I'll post a cdp # tomorrow that will save you a cool 15%

Should I go with a Yaris? Versa? Matrix? Cobalt? G6? What will be the most fun on the track?

I will be 23 by the convention so I can rent a car but I never have been able to before so I have no idea what I am doing.

I used Hertz in Vegas

Yes you should - it was the best money I ever spent

I know I didn't, but it had an odd odor when I dropped it off:

You almost have me convinced joe. How much was it, if you dont mind? I'll only be renting it for 24 hours.

I had it for exactly 24 hours. Total was around $175 if I recall, including insurance and mileage. Worth every penny. That car was not off the track for more than 30 mins at a time all day. We drove the **** out of it. I know Greg drove one session while we chased Mike in the dog car - what a blast!! Mike, Wes, and Eric all took turns behind the wheel as well. And Kevin and I had a memorable trip to the convienient store. His head was sticking thru the roof at over 100 mph!!!!

cdp# 1736927 is the hertz friends discount, it will save you 15%
If anyone is keeping it for the weekend, pc#127595 will give you a free weekend day
I'll update with more if I find some good ones.

That free weekend day will not apply to vette's, sorry

I used an Aveo at Roebling Road. I threw my Kosei K1's on it. WIth Fusion Zri's. The bolt pattern is the same as the b13's. It Did all right. It has a shiftable automatic transmission. I considered power to weight ratio as well and the Aveo was alright. I drove it at high revs for two days and it didn't break or overheat. I even drove it with the rental tires. A lot of squealing but it held.

Check the power to weight ratio's of the available cars at the rental places. I use Enterprise as its the cheapest. I also purchased the rental car insurance just in case.

Enterprise uses the following cars. Altima 2.5, Chevy Cobalt, Chevy Aveo, Nissan Sentra, Toyota Yaris, Suzuki Reno, Nissan Versa, Toyota Corolla,

I'm pretty sure the Versa is not the 1.8 motor I think they use the 1.6 Versa.

If I was going to rent a car for the track and didn't have to be cheap, I'd probably try to get something from Hertz Fun collection, or the Prestige collection.

They used to have 350z's available. I know they Have Infiniti G's available for rental.

I was going to attend the track day but I can no longer do that because of school. I was going to pick up my ride at the ATL airport since the location is open 24 hours. The plan was pickup at 3am, return at 10pm. Price for one day is less than 30 bucks. Plus insurance probably would have gone up to like 50 bucks or close to that.

Oh and If you want to be extra safe. Take the license plate off while your at the event. That way any pics show up on the net they can't use them against you if they decide to dick you over for track driving.
