(Track) Car Rental Advice Needed
It looks like my car will be too expensive to bring to the convention, so I want to rent a car to take on the track. Which agency have you guys had good experiences with? who has good insurance options?

Should I go with a Yaris? Versa? Matrix? Cobalt? G6? What will be the most fun on the track?

I will be 23 by the convention so I can rent a car but I never have been able to before so I have no idea what I am doing.

Why will it be to expensive to bring your car? I would try to rent a Vette.

Uh... you'll have to pay for extra insurance just because you aren't 25... and no rental car company is gonna let you track drive their car unless it's specifically for racing... which budget or dollar or any of them aren't gonna do. It's gonna be more like up here you can rent rally cars from a couple of the rally teams.

I don't know why it would matter, most people drive rental cars worse than how they would be driven on a track anyway.

New axles, new brakes, new tires, tune problem still isnt worked out and I have a week to figure it out and I have a calc 3 test next wednesday which is also my 23rd birthday.

Plus I am a very poor unemployed college student.

No offense at all, but obviously you have never been to a convention and no racing takes place at conventions, only a drivers education event. I am looking for people with specific experience with this.

I was going to ask them for the fastest car on the lot for heavy track duty, you think they will say no? why would they do that?

Of course they will say no. Any type of driving other than normal everyday driving is prohibited, as written in the contract. I've been in over 10 rental cars since October, alone.

If you get an SUV with 4x4, that doesn't mean you are authorized to take it off-road. We had to get exception to the policy as government renters, because we were to use the vehicles specifically off-road.

Your best bet is to look around and price them. You're under 25 so you're going to have to buy supplemental insurance, so keep that in mind in accordinance with the vehicle you select.

Say you choose a Hertz Edition Ford Cobra, you'll need additional insurance, as well as to sign forms stating that you don't intend to race the car, etc.

This is where your personal insurance comes in handy. If you wreck it on a track or whatever, make sure your personal insurance will cover the damages.

LOL sorry didn't realize you were being sarcastic.

Mazda 6 is actually pretty fun to drive, nice in the turns and the "shiftmatic" shiz is pretty fast, too. I actually really enjoyed driving one.
