Yup construction isn't going to be done until 2014 anywhere in the DFW

We have the whole 6 lane 820 and I35 mess going on here in Fort Worth.

I used to commute into NYC, so anything under an hour will be cake, and I'll be working from home 3 or 4 days a week. We're getting the house ready for sale, so we can't seriously search for a new place yet, but we'll be looking for a 3br/2car garage house to rent for 6 months to a year so we can take our sweet time looking for a place to buy.

Ronkonkoma NY - On Long Island, 50 miles east of NYC. From what I'm seeing, $250k will be more than enough for a nice house. My preference will be something old, something with character, along the Craftsman style that's been updated. My daughter is out on her own, so it's just my wife and myself. 3 bedrooms is all we need, plus a small yard, and it must have a 2 or more car garage. Within walking distance of food and entertainment is also high on our want list.

Nope, never been to Texas. We'll definitely need to visit and get shown around by some real estate folk. Elaborate away, I'm all ears.

Its nothing like ny... At all. Especially dfw... Almost no public transport... Unless you live in a few areas i can tell you about there is no such thing as walking to go east. Everyone drives here. There are restaurants everywhere. its hard to explain in words until you drive around and then you'll know. There are neighborhoods to live in that are local to places to east and entertainment but its not really wrapped up in a nice easy convenient package. I believe what you want you can find in grapevine southlake colleyville area. Start looking there. Also our styles of homes Are called by different jargen. We call single level houses ranch styles amd there are other terms. You wont find basements and the weather is totally wacky constantly. There is really no way to understand until you get here. I have lived here all mh life and i consider myself fairly well informed as far as knowing the area. Let me know any questions you have and i can give a good answer.

There are also some decent nicer places to look in bedford euless hurst areas and that's just a short drive top work. We call that area mid-cities or H.E.B look there too.
