Thread: JDM Swap Atlanta Emissions

This is a question for the Atlanta area guys. I just swapped a JDM into my NX. Therefore no EGR and no AIV.

The cat is still in place. Have any of you gone through local emissions like this and passed? From what I've read about the GA emissions, a visual check is not a requirement at least for OBD-I vehicles.


Let me know if you guys have been able to pass with any form of JDM swap, DE, VVL, or DET. If you don't want to post PM will work as well. Thanks .

You should have no problems passing.

They look to make sure that a CAT is present. Your car will need to go on the "rollers" for a running test for exhaust emissions.

Put the usdm intake manifold on with all tue egr stuff go take the test. Pass and then put the jdm intake manifold back on.

You don't need the egr to pass, but you absolutely will need a working cat. Retard the timing as much as possible that allows you to still get it to run. Reset after test and you should be good to go.

Well I retarded timing all the way. EGR and AIV were ignored. It passed the sniffer test. Everything was well below the limits, except for the NO emissions. For the 25/25 test it was very close to the 1026 ppm allowed. I was at 1024ppm.

Wow, glad you passed bro. Hey, if the 240 (I used to own) with a KA running on 3 cyl. and a bad cat can pass with no problem I figured you should be fine! lol..

BTW, which place did you go? I was gonna refer you to a place off hwy9 in alpharetta where the guy owns 240's and knows the SR front to back so he could help you pass, legally I will add. I didnt even need to seem him as mine passed at different location. I figure its worth mentioning for the other ATL crew. Glad it worked out for ya.

I went to this place near Mall of Georgia.

Just passed mine last week with the timing change trick.
