I think i might have asked this before, would it be possible to have the Prefs file linked to the rom file?

Im running Map, but ive got a couple of mates with Maf based setups and it takes a bit of changing things around to display the correct gauge and log items to suit if they send me a log file to have a look at.

You can save Gauge and Graph layouts .. simple right click and click Save Layout!

Then right click -> Load Layout.

I have my MIL light set up to come one when my VVL is turned on but I can't remember how I did it and don't have that laptop with me at the moment.

I posted a thread in the general sr20 discussion, but noone knew anything about this..

Would Skip-Fire functionality be possible to implement in Nismotronic?

Alot of new stock engine management systems have this functionality, for example VW's. Regular 4 cylinders, with one calculated skipped cylinder per firing sequence. Obviously closed loop would try to counter this, but that can be be solved either by setting the "Closed Loop Min rpm", or adjusting the Wideband AFR table to account for one cylinder pushing only air.

Thoughts?

If you right click on the screen it pops up in the menu.

Effective skip-fire functionality requires valve deactivation to reduce/eliminate pumping losses. Selective injector/spark deactivation is possible, but would not achieve worthwhile results in terms of fuel economy, and would introduce undesirable vibration.

Yep, that's what I also thought. The engines we make software for are 6-20 cylinder engines, with VIC (Variable Inlet Valve) control, so pumping losses aren't a problem there.

Now, how about a Start-Stop system, the one that shuts down the engine at red lights? Would obviously require a high end battery and a starter in good shape... You could probably make your own circuit, using the generic outputs in Nismotronic? Like clutch in, enough coolant temperature, neutral gear, 1000ms timer..

two newbie quick ones..
what is a "comfortable" laptop spec to run the program with ( downloading runs etc )?.
for those vvl guys keeping a/c and aicv, it only leaves egr to do the hi-cam switch? could some of the outputs on the "break out" box be used for this somehow?

flame suit (on) off..

@JKTUNING. I noticed that I don't get the sound anymore when I do the update file. Does have anything to do with the latest update. I kind of liked that as a confirmation that the changes went through.

You can't run the VVL from the ADC box .. the ADC box is for inputs only.

Pretty much any laptop that is capable of running Windows XP and up should be able to run the program with no real issue. The only thing that would affect logging is the processor speed of the laptop and available RAM.

The upload tone should still work OK. I used it to demonstrate with during the tuning class and everyone could hear the tone through the TV speakers we were using to mirror the laptop screen.
