The server went offline due to a sister forum located on our dedicated box that Crim sublets. Something questionable was uploaded, and Google caught it and flagged/notified the admin of that forum. They corrected the problem, but meanwhile our hosting provider's abuse team sent an e-mail to an unmonitored e-mail address and we had 48hrs to respond. Since we didn't respond in time, they disconnected the box from the network. Crim updated the contact information and contacted the abuse team to flip the switch, yet they don't operate 24/7.

With all of that being said, there's a possibility we will switch to another hosting provider that gives us greater control in the future.

Thanks for the detailed explanation! The provider should devise a system to better manage abuse-related shutdowns.

In a nutshell, we currently have 1 IP address for the dedicated server. If Crim decides to migrate to a new host, we'll have three IP addresses. When he sublets to another forum, they'll have their own IP address and if something goes awry that IP will be shut down, and not the whole interface.

Does the current host not provide the ability to acquire additional IP addresses?
