On the surface, it doesn't seem too bad. The problem is, I can't stand those damn yellow bars and that damn exclamation point. I just can't stand it. On top of that, the resize algorithm is crap. It also encourages people to post gigantic pictures. So if I want to see the good detail, I have to view about 1/4 of the image at once because it is so large. Instead of everyone using abit of netiquette, we have this kludge of a solution.

All in all, I hate it with a passion.

Maybe it's just me.

I fucking hate it.

The fact that image host providers don't automatically give you a full size link and a (configurable) thumbnail size link at the same time is not the forum's problem. If I ran a picture hosting site it would be fucking awesome in every way including that way. Again, not the forum's problem.

If the yellow bar weren't there, and the algorithm were better, I'd endorse it even if I feel it is not the right way to deal with the issue. And as far as I'm concerned, we don't even have an issue?

I toss everything on Picasa. It can generate links at multiple different resolutions from thumbnail to full-size. I just choose the size I want to embed, and it's done. If I want to show someone the full size pic I can put in a link either with the image or separate.

So what is the best image hosting company out there that is free, unlimited and gives you access to multiple resized links that you guys know about?

I hate to say it, but Facebook basically meets the criteria. =/
Easy uploads, full res and manageable smaller size in one "go". Unlimited storage and bandwidth. "Free".

I'm not saying there is a good image hosting site out there. Maybe there is. I don't know of it.
I've considered making it myself. But that's a pie-in-the-sky thing.

you know whats more annoying that huge pictures....
when everyone quotes someones post that has an image in it so we have to scroll down and see the same picture 5x in a row

most forums I'm on just links the image as text when someone quotes the post

I'm going to try Picasa with web sharing I guess. Sucks I have to go through all this extra work to share my content for the site.

How about some sort of tool that resizes the image to the limit when you're trying to upload it to the forum galery...that would be nice, as I'm lazy as well.
