Paypal "Gift" option
I have no idea where this would go best, so mods please edit out this line and move appropriately.
I’ve noticed an increasing trend of people using or suggesting the use of the “gift” option in Paypal. For those of you not aware of it: it’s an option that allows you to send money as a gift to a person and it does not require fees on either end (unless you use Paypal via a credit card). This sounds sweet to many as a 'no fee' way of using Paypal. BUT, be aware it does not come without a cost. The “gift” option is for sending money as a gift. There is no buyer protection, no way of getting it back, and Paypal will (for lack of better words) laugh at you if you try to dispute an order.
So keep that in mind when/if someone asks you to use the “gift” option.
Now, that said I’m not implying we cheat people. I’ve never had an issue buying anything, and any issue I’ve had with selling thing has been worked out. But I have seen people get scammed, and I would hate to see it happen with the “gift” option. I can see someone saying “Ya, I will sell you this NIB gt3071r for $750 shipped, just pay the 3% Paypal fees ($22.5) or gift it.” And the buyer going “Psssssh, thank you I will save that $22.5 on this steal of a turbo.” And getting raped by it. So, just be warned.
