Oh you've been actually removing users from the member list. That is quite painful indeed then.

This is why we are brainstorming on a solution though

It's what I like to call a pre-emptive strike.

I also have a habit of cleaning the userlist of those that have joined over the years and have zero posts, with no activity.

Does the auto ban/delete/remove feature for spammers remove the user from the members list?

Frankly I'd love to take some of the load off you Cliff (and others) and help with the spam problem.

i think the spammer is a person and not a bot. i notice they come on early in morning and some times during the mid day.

Another one roaming, jpissb42.

The forum needs to implement a newbie section. And keep them in this section for a week before they can post anywhere on the forum. Make a mandatory "introduce yourself" post in the newbie section to weed out the spammers.

I know spam has been an issue lately, but in general it is caught extremely quickly and is short lived. Obviously it gets old having to remove it every day or more than once a day but I would think adding the spammer's e-mail suffix to the blacklist would be a decent solution for a long while.

Out of curiosity, why would you be against it? I would be against it if you had to sign up to the forum to see the important posts and therefore it became a big hassle for a non-member to see important swap info.

Problem with newbie section is, not all spammers post withing the first 24 hours of signing up. Some are just sleepers.
