I agree on not requiring the pictures/screen name deal. Though I love to see pictures when I open a FS thread, it is not mandatory.

This forum has loose rules compared to 300zxclub(another forum I used to frequent when I had my Z.) I have a love/hate relationship with their rules. Its kind of tedious selling there, but I feel alot safer buying wit their rules.

They require your first and last name, city and state,I think even zipcode, phone number, pics and price. If not ...infractions.and it wont post until you provide it.
You also can not bump your own thread for a week.(even with pics, they must be added to the original post.)
And if you are a buyer, you must reply by PM.It will not let you post in the thread.

I have gotten infractions on there selling that got annoying, but if you want to make a few bucks off your old parts, thats what you must do.
The Mods dont mess around,I will say that.

I am not saying we should be that extreme...we do not have as much activity on a daily basis. But we could consider some of them.

more than likely nothing will happen or change. I dont think our mods are even wanting to keep up with the task of heavily and forcefully watching the for sale section and being strict about the rules if there was any.

This isnt the first time this has come up.

I think its necessary. I feel a lot more comfortable buying from someone who takes the time to follow the rules and post up pictures of the items and show people they are serious by following. Normally scammers wont waste their time if they really have to do some work to post them up.

Sadly, nothing will happen i can bet on that.

Even when i was a newbie on the mazdaforums i sold my msp racing harts with 0 trader rating within a couple days because i followed the rules and it helps put some trust in people than those just saying they have this part and blah blah blah.

We are trying to brain storm, please don't give up on ideas. Just gotta make it not too tedious on our sellers.

The ideas that are practical are there. Tedious is whats needed to help fight this. You will never get rid of all bad sellers that sell items not as described or scammers. But i can bet you that there will be a lot less of it.

Often you can tell a lot by a pic. Scammers will still scam but nice pics allow good sellers to demonstrate it. I'm not saying I would require everyone to have pics but I would not have a problem with it either. But then again I am not part of the problem. Perfect feedback on all forums since 2001.

So what if it is easy still a waste a lot of the time? Looks like you agree with my point tho.

If we had a vote I'd go "must have pics".

I think I made some simple ideas that could be implemented immediately and have no/little affect on sellers.

1.) Add % of rating instead of just numbers. Like (2) 100% or 2(0%). Trader rating does not mean much just on the number alone.

2.) Require a post count to sell something on the f/s section. Start out w/something low like 10 posts and move up if desired.

I agree no matter what new rules we implement, there will still be untrustworthy people.

What some of these measures will do, however, will reduce the occurrence of it. I think we should also add the rating % like the old forum had. Just seeing 'iTrader: (10)' for example says nothing. Could be all 10 negative reviews. That needs to be changed too.
