Thread: Anyway to Close our own threads?

Yeah if a deal goes sour the seller can just close the thread, which makes trying to figure out what happened a pain.

If I could figure out how to do it easily, I would disable editing of all posts in the forsale sections for the same reason.

just edit and headline the thread in bold red "SOLD." or post quick reply with the same info...if anyone comes to post in the thread, they will certainly see the last SOLD post!

why not? if the product has been sold the the thread should be closed

#1 reason - so the seller don't have to deal with questions like is it still avaliable. I'm new on here and I've seen so many threads get bumped with that Q and it has been as much as a 3 months old

if the buyer has a question about the product he has bought don't think for one second that they forgot who is was purchased from. and that usually happens within a few days of recieving it anyway

and from what I've seen so far the mods on here play favortisim to a small hand full of members on here and abuse there priviledge of power by taking one side and causing a bigger problem between the thread starter and thread hijacker especially when someone expresses there opinion about something/product/experience with a vendor


look I'm just saying when a thread is done it should be up to the thread starter to close there OWN thread. and thats my opinion

If someone comes by and asks if it's still available you can safely ignore them.

That's not exactly true. I will say there are some cases, Calum's section a prime example, where we have to take action.

There is favoritism towards older members that provide useful information, then towards new members that come here to just sell, and bash and or shoosh away older members.

But I'm assuming your talking about Calum's situation. It is simply getting old. I've seen so many threads that could have been solved by a simple search, but instead they proceeded with asking the same question. Yes getting a hold of Calum is hard, but he is busy working for a new product for us. I think the members of this forum nagged him so much that he hasn't even been on here for over 3 months.

Then you have members that try to sell their parts in another person's thread, or vendors section. I'm sorry if this is what you mean by favoritism, but that will not be tolerated. It is plain out disrespectful.

And as was said, the seller can put SOLD in the first post and remove the thread from his subscribed threads. Anyone dumb enough to ask about something in that thread will be ignored, and for good reason. It's sold.

Regardless, issues should be brought up in the same thread that the purchase was made, to aid everyone in seeing what was sold and how it all went down. If you're suggesting we make 2 or 3 different threads about one transaction, and then jump between all of them whenever a question is raised, you've probably never had an issue in a for sale thread. It's easier for everyone if it's kept in the same spot.

Well yes, that is your opinion. However, considering your registration date, you haven't had the time to really know how everything works and haven't seen and dealt with issues like we have. So of course we're going to defer to older members, we've been here a long time (most of us since the birth of this forum) and we know whats up.

My suggestion: Simply put big red SOLD at the very top of the original post, don't remove any info, and leave the thread open just in case any questions or disputes arise.

No. Because people (even old forum members) still bump the god damn thread asking if its sold. Its annoying. Should be able to close it yourself. If there is a problem you can always put it in the user feedback section. As that is what its there for. It doesn't matter about his join date.

i think editing the thread title with "SOLD" and putting it on the 1st thread is sufficient in the for sale section. the information in a for sale thread shouldn't be deleted especially pricing.

for the most part, it's the original thread posters responsibility to update the thread and make it know that parts are sold and if the thread needs to be closed so no one else posts on it. you're the one selling the parts, so manage it accordingly.

i think this is also relates to the whole "noob posting in for sale" section. slight tendency is to post something for sale, forget about it when no one replies, then the thread fades away. 4 months later someone finds it and posts "still for sale?" but the member is no longer active in the forum.

i don't see a point in closing other than to reduce clutter and dead post revival. my 2 cents and a nickel.

on the original you can close your own threads (in the classified sections)
