Well this is what the trader rating is for. As members we have to make sure we give feed back for every sale. This goes for buyer and seller. Me personally I have sold tons of items and I have had to beg for feedback from the buyer many times to get my rating up so I just stopped begging. I say if someone gets scammed that's their problem if they don't look at the trader ratings.

I agree with this. If we some random newb posting often in a short amount of time then we can keep a close eye on them.

Do we really want to encourage random newbs to post whore?

What if you're a good lurker and manage to glean all the info you'd ever need by *gasp* searching and reading for months because we've done our job well and have a well organized forum with a high signal/noise ratio? Should you not be able to sell something?

I know no rule is perfect and there are always outlying cases that get caught in the fray. I just don't want to encourage something bad (post whoring) with a rule.

I do see the benefit of making the person post though, now that I think about it. You get to see a bit of what they are like and how they act, etc.
(Someone else brought this up earlier in the thread.)

So being here for a length of time and posting some seems to be a good option from my point of view.
Maybe 25 posts (works for other forums I'm on) or even less. 10 would be enough to see what someone's like...
And then make sure they've been here for a good length of time. 2 weeks isn't long to wait to sell but like someone said, it's an eternity for a spammer.

I'd say 10-25 posts minimum and at least 2 weeks since you joined.
