'93 SE-R: steering wheel has unwanted horizontal play (left to right)
Hey guys, I have a slight problem with my '93 SE-R. The entire steering column gives a bit each way from left to right, horizontally, regardless of how high or low the tilt is set at.

This is not my car, but here's a very crude illustration I just did in MS paint of what I'm referring to.

I was wondering if there are some sort of bolt(s) that could be loose, or some way of tightening it up. I haven't yet tried to remove any of the plastic trim pieces to check it out because I wanted to ask you guys first.

It's not a HUGE deal when driving but in parking lots its a pain in the ass because the wheel moves from left to right. Hoping someone here has had experience with fixing this. Thanks in advance.

Oh and I should add, my car has deleted power steering. So my guess is the previous owner may have caused the slack from left to right while yanking on the steering wheel in parking lots and stuff. So that is a probable cause, but does anyone have a theory on fixing it?

Buy a good used steering column from me, that will fix it

For real? If your serious and believe that is the problem, I'd replace it

Pull down the plastic and metal brace behind it and check the bolts that hold it up. Then make sure the shaft dont have play side to side

Thanks, that can be done from inside the vehicle? Sorry I have been out of the game for awhile.

Yeah man, just pull off the plastic covering underneath and inspect bolts etc.. have someone move the steering wheel while you inspect to see where it is coming from.

Okay great! Thanks!! I am going to try to fix this tomorrow. Like I was saying its not big deal when driving, but in parking lots or turning around, the left/right slack is a big pain w/ no power steering
