do you still need it. if not vice grips should work. might even try putting a thick rag or towel around it so the damage is minimal if you still need it
No loctite, just glue. I've heard a towel and a vice are one way some people go about it, but I don't think there's a way that will guarantee your knob survives.

a was a little late but i got mine off with the towel and vice grips trick with no damage just be careful if you try it not to squeeze the crap out of it

not to be a downer but i had to cut the knob off of one once when i was doing a short throw install......i went at that knob not giving a shit if it survived and it didn't budge.......sawzall ftw on that occation
