I find it is MUCH easier to do the job if you have the clutch pedal depressed. Also, a flexible magnetic tool will help you pull the end of the cable out and over the catch on the pedal. There is certainly no need to remove the driver's seat.

Of course you don't have to but if you are having trouble or you have a bad back it makes it a lot easier. Only takes a second to get the seat out.

x2.. I'm 6'3 and I'm fairly skinny... I had trouble getting under there and seeing the pedal... It hurt my back until I removed the seat. It's 4 bolts and highly recommended

Idk, after doing so many of them, I wouldn't recommend removing the seat at all. Not necessary and extra work for a 10 min job.

Yes removing the seat and lower cover (the one under the steering wheel) was very helpful was able to lay down inside the car and remove easily. !!
