no...better, but not completely. may be the latch mech needs to be moved.

My trunk is tight as hell, perfectly adjusted, new OEM rubber bumpers back there.

I still get a banging/clunking noise from the tension rods when hitting particular bumps. And I have nearly zero other rattles or squeeks in my ride. Just the trunk "clunk/bang".

I've even thought about going to struts to raise or lower my trunk. Someone did it on this forum recently.

And.....bam...

That should fix the issue at it's source instead of trying to pad the torsion bars.

Now that you have brought this back up, I think I will implement this fix.

I want my car quiet. The only thing I want to hear is the engine and the exhaust. Rattles and squeeks annoy the shit out of me.

What did you say?!

Jokes aside I hated this crap when I had my B13. Had I kept it and known about the gas struts I'd have done it.

OK, I did what Shawn suggested. Got new seal for the trunk. I also ended up purchased a 5 feet rubber hose(vacumn) size of the pencil.

I cut all up into section, wrap around the tension rods, to prevent rubbing. I tighten up the lock on the trunk lid(dang, mine was lose two bolts) same with the female latch on the car.
I bought some bump stop rubber round black pieces on the trunk lid. Silicone these nipple round pieces. Wow, certainly cut down significantly....only slight clang over some deep shit holes.
