Thread: Any thoughts on my digital dash idea

So I have had this idea floating around in my head for awhile, and thought I would post it up with some pictures to get some thoughts.

I have a Samsung QB1 touchscreen tablet. Its a 7" wide screen. I also have Nissan Datascan with the consult usb connection. I thought it would be cool to use this as a digital gauge cluster setup. Its a bright and responsive screen, so I hooked it up and snapped a few pictures. I can change the main dashboard gauges to anything I want, plus I can setup alerts. You can see in one of the pictures I set the RPM alert to 2000rpm so it would trip it, basically a built in shift light I have considered simply altering the dash to accommodate everything, or building a small sheet aluminum enclosure. It would include the tablet pc along with the other gauges I need to run, and simply run a gas gauge. I could even house it towards the center of the dash area. Interior is gutted. I would also get an angled usb adapter for better packaging Anyway, here are the pictures, let me know what you think.
