first off.................every shim you take off must go back on the EXACT same valve. YOU CAN NOT MIX THEM UP.

second, the shims are meaured within thousands of an inch and ever valve has a differant measure ment. with the shim on the valve there must be an exact measurement of freeplay between it and the rocker arm and cam. this is done by useing a special tool designed exclusivly by nissan and custom steel has also made one.

needless to say.....your kinda screwed.

where are you located? see if you can find someone around you with the CS shim tool, and find out what size shim you need, then post up a want ad. I know loads of people just got shims laying around.

so when jwt threw all my shims into a bag along with all my rocker arms, valves, valvesprings, HLA's, etc. they weren't planning on me ever using them again?

the motor blew and they took it all apart. i still have the head. and practically every single part that went with the old block and head.

just curious because now it seems like i can't put that head back together.

They might have figured that you were going to have the head freshened up anyways, and if anyone does anything with the valves, or a valve job or seats or anything, the head needs to be reshimmed anyways. Its not hard to shim a head, just hard to find the tool.
