stock paint colors
I've looked all over the forum and other websites, and I can't seem to find clarification on the stock colors (not just main color) on a 92 SE-R. Reason being is I am planning paint and retrimming (another story) for this summer and would like to keep it stock as possible.

First off, it is a 531 Vail White. Is the stock grill, side mirrors, and "rear trunk plastic" just KH3 Super Black? I know the rocker panels and the front bumper lip are greyish. This website claims the rocker panels are G64 Dark Grey. Although the KJ5 Dark Grey Pearl catches attention. Any comments, criticisms, ridicules? haha

Colors

Thanks guys,

Dave

Edit: I'm now realizing that the link won't work. For some reason you have to click "Home" and put the "1992 Nissan Sentra" and click Go. It'll show the list I am talking about. It's also really interesting to see how the color options changed as the years changed from 1991 through 1994, if this is at all accurate.

I have no clue.

However, it is cool as hell that you are so picky about being OEM-correct.

Thanks shawn b. Ya I try not to attract too much attention in this day and age. Plus, this is a car I want to keep for a long time, and so I intend to do it right. Don't have money for restoration like yourself tho. I'm leaning more towards the Dark Grey for the rockers and bumper. Do people even paint the rear trunk plastic? The bigger question is will I be able to get the shop to paint it to these specifications. lol

Hopefully Jimithin will imput as he's due for paint in the near future I believe. I guess noone's really asked this before.

I would say the grill is KH3...as far as the paint job down to those details. You get what you pay for. Post pics when you are done should be great to see a freshly painted Se-r especially since your keeping it looking stock.

I thought KH3 was the one too. I'll post pics as soon as i get organized here. She's not even on the forum yet.

I've always been curious to see what a fresh se-r was like back in 92 right of the dealership lot. I wouldn't know because i was only a few years old at the time. I think it would be unique to do it original but expensive I know.

Props for keeping it original. I'm always about being different, so plan on painting my car "Blue Flame" in the spring. It's a 2010 Ford color.

Hey it was a matter of time before I chimed in haha. I know in 91-92 the rockers were a dark grey color. The grill and rear garnish are not painted from the factory just black plastic. If you want to paint them a satin black I think it would look very close to OEM. I am not sure if my 93 has original paint or not however the rockers are painted white. I like you attention to detail man hit me up soon.

Btw I will be going in for paint next winter. Still too much work to be done car to shoot for this year. However next winter car is going to the bodyshop as a bare shell. The chassis will be stripped all the seam sealer is going to be removed and stitchwelded instead. Car is getting foam filled and a 4 point roll bar will be installed in addition to all the suspension bars and braces I already have. I am talking above and beyond OEM fit and finish.

We will talk more soon bro all the best,
Jim

Jim that thing is going to be a beast! all motor ftw. If they do it up right, hit me up dude, because I don't want any Maaco temporary paint job.

Thanks Jim and blackb15 for the imput. I am thinking of doing those things (mirrors, r valance, grill) in super black anyway just because the grill is white and everything else is faded, but I'm wondering if they would stick out too much, more than the white. I think I will go for the Dark Grey on the rockers and bumper lip, maybe some pearl in there if it's not that outrageous. Might throw on a 626 lip or s13 lip and paint that too. Now for the estimates, i guess. Lookin to do the whole exterior, inside door sills, and inside trunk. That's another reason i want it at stock. Neon green outside and white inside would be awful, in my opinion. Not that I would throw on neon green haha

I will try to keep this thread updated if and when I get an estimate/more opinions, just in case there are others out there that love oem like myself.

Edit: I will try and throw up a list of all OEM colors on the b13, because as far as I know there isn't a list on the Dash.

Thank you for the comments everytime I hear something positive it reminds me that its going to be worth it when its done.

The body make over is going to be in stages, the first being stripped down to nothing more than a roller. I think the only thing not getting painted will be the underside of the car. Then the car will be towed to a local shop shop so that he can remove all the seam sealer and stitch weld the entire chassis I am talking every seam in the car that can be done will be done. After he finishes with the car I am going to have it towed back to my shop. We have a guy that rents a bay from the owner of Midas just to do body work out of I am talking restoration type **** with no budget or time constraints. He works at a local body shop during the day and restores anything and everything by night. He isn't familiar with foam filling a chassis but was eager to learn as long as I helped him do it. After the foam filling is done the car will stay with him so he can do all the body work and restore it to better than OEM. Once he is done with it the car will be sent out to get painted. He doesn't have a paint booth at his "night shop". So it will either be taken to the dealer he works for so he can paint it or to a local body shop who is more than capable of doing an excellent job. Then final fitment of everything will be done after that so a level of OEM fit and finish can be maintained. Then the wires will get tucked and the built motor/trans will get installed.

Sorry for the book but you seemed interested.

Sounds great and well thought out Jim!

Ok, I am now looking for sample pictures of all the STOCK colors that the b13 came with, mainly the SE-R. If anyone has clean and good pictures of their stock color b13 post it up along with the name of the color. I would post other people's cars up but I'm not sure that they would want them up. This is a list of all the colors offered in the 91-94 b13 sentras according to paintscratch.com. I do not know how reliable this source is and I don't know if this is strictly in the USA.

1991 Nissan Sentra colors and codes

Vail White 531
Silver Frost Metallic Clearcoat 549
Aztec Red Clearcoat AG2
Cherry Red Pearl Clearcoat AH3
Winter Blue Metallic Clearcoat BG6
Greyish Light Grey Metallic Clearcoat DJ3
Super Black Clearcoat KH3
Yellow Silver Pearl Clearcoat (Biege Pearl) KJ1
Dark Gray Pearl Clearcoat KJ5
Midnight Blue Pearl Clearcoat TH1
Dark Gray (matt-Rocker Bumper) G64
Flat Black (Window Trim Paint) FLT

1992 Nissan Sentra colors and codes

-same as 1991 except the following added:
Dark Green Pearl Clearcoat DJ2
Silver Metallic Clearcoat KL0
Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat TK3

1993 Nissan Sentra colors and codes

Same as 1991 except the following added:
Ruby Pearl Clearcoat AL0
Dark Green Pearl Clearcoat DJ2
Grayish Green Pearl Clearcoat DL0
Silver Metallic Clearcoat KL0
Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat TK3
Greenish Silver Metallic Clearcoat WK2

and subtracted:
Silver Frost Metallic Clearcoat 549
Winter Blue Metallic Clearcoat BG6
Greyish Light Grey Metallic Clearcoat DJ3
Dark Gray (matt-Rocker Bumper) G64 (not on SE-Rs but still on other trims)

1994 Nissan Sentra colors and codes

Same as 1991 except the following added:
Ruby Pearl Clearcoat AL0
Dark Green Pearl Clearcoat DJ2
Dark Grey Pearl Metallic Clearcoat KK0
Silver Metallic Clearcoat KL0
Dark Blue Pearl Clearcoat TK3

and subtracted:
Silver Frost Metallic Clearcoat 549
Winter Blue Metallic Clearcoat BG6
Greyish Light Grey Metallic Clearcoat DJ3
Dark Gray (matt-Rocker Bumper) G64 (subtracted from all trims)

Note: I have confirmed these codes with automotivetouchup.com. Some of them have different names but the code is still the same.

Edit: Pinstripes were also available on all trims until 1993. Most people don't like the pinstripes anyways. Personally, I do but it's probably not worth the trouble to source these to put on your classic, as I would venture to guess that they are unavailable now.

Update: This color list is also verified by http://www.premierpaintpots.co.uk/Nissan%20H%20to%20Z%20Paint%20Codes.htm and http://maxima.theowensfamily.com/tsb/NTB91-082.pdf. I think it's ok to say that these colors are, in fact, official. As a bonus the latter site lists colors for the NX and almost every other 1992 Nissan model. It also lists the paint code for the same color in different reputable brands such as PPG, Dupont, Sherwin Williams, etc. So if you want to use a "better" brand of paint on your car, you can request a certain adjacent paint code from that company's line-up. The only disappointment is I don't see paint codes for a company called House of Kolors, which make some of the best paints in the world.
