Absolutely. Tire compound makes a way bigger difference than size.

Federal 595RS-R are great too, haven't gotten a chance to compare them to RS3 's yet...

Those seem like an interesting option, anyone try these?

Just for the track or also for the street?? How well do they hold up and how many miles do you think you will get out of them?

ive had mine for about two months now, they are great on the street, have a couple autox's on them, and about 4 hours of track time... still got plenty to go

I was doing some reading on these today and they would seem like a great track-only tire or a weekend warrior but doesn't like like a good choice for a DD. I think I'm going to order a full set of the Dunlop DZ101's and see how they are. The ZE-912's I got are getting a little old and tired. I don't drive the car in the snow/rain anymore since I got the Maximus.

Don't order the DZ101s, they're *terrible*!

I've tried to save a buck on tires before like you're planning on doing, and it DOESN'T WORK. You need something track oriented with big tread blocks like the star specs, because regular summer performance tires will chunk all over the place. You'll end up getting less mileage / wear out of the more modest tires by trying to compromise like that.

They chunk and don't have any grip... compared to RS3s.
