It would only be about 1.7% increase... like 1mph difference @60mph.

He is right. the benefit of grip outweighs the ratio increase.

SERacer: Did you ever race these Nittos? Looks nice and I really like 205/55 R14 diameter! So i can use OEM wheels and safe some money and have lower diameter.

should I grab some of those? I was going to get some Azenis but they don't seem to make them any more. I am on a very tight budget but I dont want to waste the track event.

What do you intend to do beyond the convention? If you a going to do some autocrossing or other track days, then yes. PBIR is planning lots of track days, some of them at night. You have the power where you will need the extra grip.
The toyos R888 are not that bad either. The falkens are crap not a true race tire.

well I don't see much point in spending a bunch of money on something that is not going to grip like I need it to. I'm trying to find some inexpensive wheels to throw the tires on, are NX wheels too small for the b14? I was also looking at some 15x6.5 Konig Heliums also, they seemed like a good deal at 350 with some tires on them: 15x6.5 Konig Heliums - SR20 Forum

thanks for all the help Andy

Thats a good buy. I know where you are coming from, I use to pick up used slicks to run autocross. Until I bought a new set. I will never go back to a used set.
Go with what you can afford and have fun, until you burn them up.
Cool,

I think I am going to pick up a set of NX wheels and get some new Nitto NT-01s. Sound like a good plan? I will have to get the 205-55-14.

The 15's would have been better. Which ever tire you get, put a heat cycle on them before track use. Try and find a long empty road with no traffic and work the wheel back and forth to build some heat. Slowly at first to gradually build heat in the tire. When you hear alot of gravel being picked up (more than normal) rotate the tires and repeat for the rears. This is not easy. Thetires will last a heck of alot longer.

Get an alignment too 1* neg . left and right. 0 or 1/16" toe out. That's ok for the street. Rears, I like to keep the toe around stock for the street.
Tire press around 30 fr 28 rear to start.
