Thread: Spec clutches

i had issues with my stage 4 with 350whp it slipped pretty bad when it got hot.i did love the feel and driveability but it slipped at the track. i called them before i installed it asking what do they recomend for breaking in on a race car since you cant drive around for 500 miles and they said they dont have one that they need to be broken in. so i said i guess you dont recomend racing your clutches and they had no comment.

i bought a spec stage 2 kit for a 190+whp, 140+wtq sr20ve and after proper break in, it slipped like fuck

after asking me for pics of the clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, they said that i would need to send it back along with my flywheel

considering i am in Jamaica, i just cut my loss and moved on

Never had an issue yet with a spec clutch & thats all I use.

Bought my car with a spec clutch installed and grenaded. Before I got it home, purchased another b13 with a spec clutch and the springs look a little sketchy

I've run a Spec stage 2 for 2 years now. The first years was in my B13 with a stock tranny and I hated the feel of it. It never seem to engage quite right at random times.

After the first year I went with a 2000 P11 transmission and switched over to hydraulic. I used the Spec clutch and pressure plate because everything was in great shape, even the throwout bearing was perfect.

What a difference. Clutch engagement was precise, shifts were smooth. I couldn't believe it was the same setup.

Their pressure plates are fine, discs suck.

I'm running a spec stg5 in my 6psd b13 and so far so good. I'll give you a little info that could save you some cash, the same guy started the spec and clutch master companies. The clutches are very simular and hold up about the same. Now here is the good part, clutch master has a much better price point. When comparing clutch for clutch and stg for stg I would look into clutch master and save some cash. With that being said my spec is holding great and I beat the heck out of it and it better because it cost me an arm and leg.
