Thread: Spec clutches

Running my stage 3 for over a year now, pulled it down a about 2 mths ago and its in awesome shape, grips hard and pedal feel is still soft, I like it so far!!

I think their problem is QC. I've heard people swear by them or at them nothing in between. On mine the quality seemed good I honestly think the friction surfaces were mislabeled

had this exact same problem on a basically stock KA after less than 5k miles

I stopped using them a long time ago but they used to be hit or miss. Some people would use them and have no issues while some people would have an early failure or an annoying issue such as chatter or noise. I also use clutchmasters but would still run an act if I got a good enough deal on one. Spec clutches do have a good rep with some other vehicle crowds and may have improved on the quality control as of late since I nor anyone I know has run one in over 6 years.

sorry for the late chime in, but that is an interesting set of wear marks around the splines. how did you install this disc?

i have a stage 3 6 puck spec in my s13 and let me tell you, its handling close to 350+whp like a champ. holds no matter what. yeah it chatters off the line if youre not careful, but most 6 pucks do. i dunno, its easy enough to drive that my nana could drive it and its still tough enough to handle the abuse when i drive it.

Guess i have to try one out as my act disc and jwt pp is taken toom much abuse . I'm buying a almost new stage3 #sn573 rated @ 305tq . Anyone feedback on this particular one ?

Thats good to hear ^ . I dont hit the drag strip that oftten but do autox and sprited driving , but i need it to hold up . My track record on clutches is bad and I heel and toe alot and and dont drag the clutch to down shift .

I'm crossing my fingers. The 6 speed swap came with recommendations from Greg V, so I got this Spec unit from him for a 240sx. I had to buy a spec V tob. I got a 6-puck with superclamp option on the pp. It's supposed to be good to 480lb ft. It makes a little noise on engagement when cold every now and then.

But so far it hasn't left me stranded.
