Thread: Powder Coat Bubbling?

I was looking at my valve cover you guys did for me today and along the pass side of it I noticed that the coating is bubbling up and starting to crack. I duno whats going on with it I'm assuming it has something to do with the prep work not being right or maybe bad powder or not heated long enough? Anything you guys can do for me?

Thats usually because there was contaminents on the metal or bad powder. It doesnt bond well and.starts to seperate from the metal.

false. Its called outgassing..The air trapped in the metal escapes when its heated up and lifts up the powder thats over it..

That will also happen if the product was cleaned incorrectly or the car got too hot. Lot of things can make this happen. That was over a year ago we did that correct?

Yeah it was about a year I think. The car has never overheated so it's not possible for that. And I just noticed it and it's been sitting for about a month.

So anything you can do for me or am I SOL?
