Will, I think something that is maybe combined with Steel frame in order to provide some structural rigidity over fiberglass, as well as a similar attaching mechanism coupled with fiberglass could provide an excellent solution for T top replacements. I would be peachy keen with just t top inserts and get rid of the glass. The carbon fiber could be made easy.
Between machining and 3D modeling something could be done. Even after that someone could possibly pick up the manufacturing of them once they are designed. As this could be an international thing for replacement T tops. I couldn't even imagine the woes of T tops seals those guys in the Netherlands are having with our 20+ year old cars nowadays.
On the FSAE, What drivetrain are you running? I always new the Gators had a good program in this. SIUC's was more of a "club" thinking they were making a racecar. I wanted to get into it, but knowing I was not in engineering anymore when I found out about I would probably just be looked at as a fan boy, when I probably would have FTD's ( boasting, but.. rightful).
