Are you gonna bring that cherry NX to the convention this year?

I still think it's a mistake to track this car. Once they're gone they're gone. This car, in my opinion, is the best surviving example of a stock NX. It would be ashame if something happened to it.

Anyone who has been involved in road racing knows there's nothing being done on course that's going to increase the value or condition of a vehicle. Also, if you're not prepared to crumple the car up like a piece of paper and throw it in the trash, it shouldn't be out there. I realize from what you've said earlier, you really don't place much value on this car, but I think most of the forum disagrees with that position. You do what you want. It's your car. I just think you're being somewhat irresponsible with it and wish you'd keep it pristine for future enthusiasts to enjoy. 2 cents.

To die on the track would be more honorable than the fate of many other NX's (straight cars sent to the crusher, rear-ended and totalled by women at stop signs, rusting to death, ricing to death, cut up for lemons races, stupid DD crashes). I would hate to see this NX perish, but it is living the dream in my opinion.

agreed, cars were meant to be driven, it pains me to see people keeping their cars covered up in their garage only to drive it a few times of year, I'm building an older volvo, one of only a 1000 that still remain, and i plan to drive it 8 months of year, rain or shine, enjoy it, thats what driving a car is all about, to me anyways

You havent seen his garage! The NX is a beater/throw away car to him. And its not like theres a DET or something crazy in there lol. Im sure that car is taken care of just fine. Its probably safer on the track then on the real road...

He views it as a throw away car....exactly my point. I can assure you tracking a car does nothing to improve it's value, appearance, nor it's mechanical longevity.

Throw away car? Hardly true.

My NX is garaged, covered and maintained to a high standard. I'm putting about 1500 miles/year on it, and it is spared from daily driver wear and tear. It now has about 58k miles.

I appreciate the concern about tracking, but 1-2 driving events per year is not subjecting the car to excessive abuse. The NX never hit the redline, and the stock brakes and street tires held up well. This is not racing, and I felt a lot safer at Roebling Road than driving in a Wal Mart parking lot. Driving events like Seat-time and Hooked on Driving allow you to drive fast in a controlled environment. I won't be "hammerin" an NX in autocross like our friend, Hank. The fun-to-abuse ratio in autocross doesn't interest me much.

I love this car, and have no interest is selling or trashing it. I have also spent the last 4 years stockpiling new OEM parts for the NX like seats, window trim, AC compressor, etc. Within the last year, the NX has new front control arms, sway bar bushings and rear parallel links. I've got a set of Japanese-spec projector OEM fog lights waiting to be installed.

Looking forward to sharing my NX experience with you in the future. Don't worry about this NX. It's in a good home.

Dean

Either way great looking car. But its not a Vette or lambo or anything guys. Its an NX and the reality is that we are the only people on earth who view these cars as anything other then a Geo...
